Conductivity Probe Measurement
Conductivity probes consists of two electrodes with an AC voltage applied across the
surface area one being the transmitting electrode the other the receiving electrode inducing an electrical current
when immersed in the sample solution measuring the ion concentration activity and therefore it's conductivity,
the direct relationship between a solution's current flow and ion concentration is proportional offering a fast reliable and
non-destructive way to access the sample solution's ion content and therefore it's conductivity value.
Conductivity measurements is
typically expressed in units like Siemens per meter (S/m) or microsiemens per centimeter (µS/cm).
Conductivity Electrode Measurement
Conductivity electrodes measures a solutions ability to conduct electricity by
applying an alternating voltage across the surface area of two electrodes immersed in a solution creating an electrical
field between the conductivity electrode surfaces measuring the resulting current flow which is proportional to the solutions
ion concentration and therefore conductivity, the higher the concentration of ions in the solution the greater the current flow
therefore the higher the conductivity measurement in the solution.
Conductivity measurements is typically expressed
in units like Siemens per meter (S/m) or microsiemens per centimeter (µS/cm).
Conductivity Probe Maintainance
Conductivity probes are low maintenance although they require periodic servicing crucial to restoring the
probes efficiency and performance particularly when used on challendging processes where the the electrodes could become
dirty or fouled compromising the probe measurement accuracy, routine cleaning with warm water or mild a detergent
and brush helps remove solids that slowly accumulate on the electrodes surface that could cause entrapment of air bubbles compromising
the probes measurement accuracy.
