Chlorine Measurement
The measurement chlorine in a solution is determined using highly sensitive amperometric
chlorine sensors consisting of two electrodes (anode and cathode) measuring a change in current between the electrodes
where a voltage applied to the cathode reduces the chlorine to chloride, the process consumes electrons generated by
the second electrode (the anode) inside the sensor the number of electrons consumed at the cathode is directly proportional to
the rate at which analyte diffuses to the electrode surface. The current signal generated by the electrodes is
converted by the sensor into a voltage signal producing exceptional measurement accuracy in terms of free
and total chlorine in parts per million (ppm) measurement.
These types of chlorine sensors are fairly low maintenance although
they do require periodic cleaning to wash away solids that slowly accumulate on the membrane they provide an effective and reliable
source of continuous stable measurement with low maintenance and low running costs over many years.
