pH Measurement Explained
All pH probes and sensors comprises of two main elements a glass sensing membrane electrode
and reference electrode working together in a single unit measuring the hydrogen ion activity in an aqueous solution to
determine it's acidity or alkalinity hence the term combination electrode, by measuring the voltage difference between the
pH sensitive glass membrane and reference electrode which provides a known stable reference potential completing the electrical
millivolt circuit proportional to the pH measurement value.
Dependent on the intended application electrodes are manufactured
in various shaft materials: - Glass Electrodes - Polycarbonate Electrodes - Epoxy Electrodes
