Measurement of chlorine Cell
The standard amperometric sensor consists of two electrodes (anode and cathode) these measure
a change in current caused by the chemical reduction of the chlorine through a membrane over the cathode at the tip of the
sensor, a voltage applied to the cathode reduces the chlorine to chloride the process consumes electrons which come from
a second electrode (the anode) inside the sensor, the number of electrons consumed at the cathode, is directly proportional to the
concentration of chlorine in the sample. These types of chlorine sensors are fairly low maintenance although they do require periodic
cleaning to wash away solids that slowly accumulate on the membrane providing continuous and low running costs over many years with
replacement membranes available.
All our chlorine controllers incorporate control relays as well as a
(0) 4-20mA signal. Depending on which model of controller - these can be used to control a piece of control equipment such as a pump
or solenoid valve. Often these pieces of control equipment can be controlled proportionally that is - causing the device to speed
up, or dose faster / slower depending on the deviation from the desired set-point.
